TENS MACHINES
HMS TENS Machine (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation machine) for physiotherapy is renowned for its quality and reliability world over. Our digital TENS machine has a novel design, with preset as well as manual selection features. We offer 4 models of Physiotherapy TENS pain relief Machine namely: DIGITENS® 2 – Latest and advanced handheld dual channel pocket TENS machine, DIGITENS® – handheld dual channel pocket model TENS machine and DIGITENS® 4s, INDOTENS® 4ch – advanced microcontroller based four channel TENS device. They are predominantly used for nerve related pain conditions. The main functionality of the TENS machine is to send electronic stimulating pulses across the surface of the skin and along the nerve strands. The stimulating pulses prevent the pain signals from reaching the brain by stimulating the body to produce higher levels of its own natural painkillers called “endorphins”.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Yes
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation or TENS therapy uses a low voltage electrical current to manage pain. A TENS machine/unit consists of a battery-powered device that delivers pulses of electricity through electrodes placed on the skin surface.
TENS is effective for osteoarthritis, postoperative pain, painful diabetic neuropathy, and some acute pain conditions. Below are the situations in which TENS can help:
1. Post-operative or acute pain
2. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)
3. Wound healing
4. Inflammation
You can safely use a TENS machine/unit usually for 30-60 minutes up to 4 times daily. TENS can provide relief for up to four hours.
A 20-minute break is advised between usage to give your skin a break to avoid potential skin irritations from using TENS in one area on the skin for too long.
Before Using the TENS Machine/Unit please consult a Physiotherapist. Do not use TENS if you have undiagnosed pain and a history of cancer in the last five years. Further, do not apply electrodes to your head. These impulses could cause seizures.
As a precaution, individuals with pacemakers, epilepsy, or are pregnant should avoid the TENS Unit / Machine, as using this device can lead to potential complications.
Electrode placement is important to obtain the best results from the TENS machine. Exact location will depend on where your pain is felt. The most important aspect is to position them so that the current passes through the painful area, or along the nerves leading from the pain, or over acupuncture points.
Yes. When not in use, stick them back onto the plastic film supplied with the electrodes. Do not stick the electrodes face to face as this will destroy them. If the electrodes lose some of their “stickiness”, try moistening the surface with a few drops of water.
1. TENS UNITS/MACHINES SHOULD NOT BE USED BY PERSONS WITH HEART PACEMAKERS OR SERIOUS HEART RHYTHM PROBLEMS. People with heart disease or epilepsy should be evaluated by a doctor first before using a unit.
2. TENS should not be used by pregnant women before 36 weeks without medical advice, or at any time on the abdomen during pregnancy.
3. TENS should not be placed on the head, front or side of the neck, over the heart or on broken and inflamed skin.
4. TENS electrodes should not be applied internally or to areas of skin where normal sensation is absent.
5. TENS equipment should not be used while bathing, showering or swimming.
6. TENS machines should not be used while operating vehicles or potentially hazardous equipment.
7. TENS equipment poses a danger to children and should be kept out of their reach.
8. Electronic monitoring equipment can be affected by TENS/NMS use.
